MoTown Con
Motown Con was a fun and stressful experience. Making money from my art for the first time and seeing people genuinely enjoy it made all the hard work worth it. This was my first time turning my art into physical products to sell. On top of that, I started my job as a teacher just two weeks before the convention. Balancing my new career with running my new small business was overwhelming at times, but I’m so glad I did it.
There was definitely a learning curve. I researched countless manufacturers and quickly learned to order overseas products far in advance, some of mine didn’t arrive in time. Instead of panicking, I adapted. I used a button maker and my printer to create buttons so I wouldn’t be limited to just posters and bumper stickers.
The Motown Con staff was amazing. They were kind, helpful, and actively enforced their anti-AI policy, which I really appreciated. I met so many wonderful artists, and so many of my friends came out to support me. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who stopped by my table and supported my work. Thank you so much.
